About Lloyd Herman
Lloyd Herman was the founding Director of our national craft gallery, the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum, 1971-86, and was succeeded by former BAM Director Michael Monroe. Lloyd wrote the first published history of the Pilchuck Glass School, Clearly Art: Pilchuck’s Glass Legacy, in conjunction with a traveling exhibition of the same title. The University of Washington Press called him “one of the foremost authorities on America’s contemporary craft movement.”
