Join us for a special poetry reading in celebration of Bellwether 2018, the City of Bellevue's annual arts festival. Inspired by this year's theme of "connections & connectivity," artists will share new work as well as tried-and-true favorites. Get ready to laugh, cry, and be moved! Featured artists include Lily Ann Baumgart, Sarah Galvin, Yonnas Getahun, Johnny Horton, and Marie-Caroline Moir. After the reading, come join us for free music and performances at Bellevue Downtown Park!

Lily Ann Baumgart

Lily Ann Baumgart is Seattle’s 2017-18 youth poet laureate. Before being the youth poet laureate, Lily Ann was in the finalists cohort for the 2016-17 YPL season. She also was a part of the inaugural Jack Straw Young Writers Program 2015-16. Her favorite part of writing is being able to teach poetry and learning from those she works with; for her, poetry is a constant state of growth. She has read and taught around the Seattle area and has a forthcoming book through Penmanship Books

Sarah Galvin

Sarah Galvin is a the author of Ugly TimeThe Three Einsteins, and The Best Party of our Lives; contributor to The GuardianVice Magazine, The Stranger, and City Arts Magazine; and also a human bottle rocket. She has an MFA in poetry from the University of Washington.

Yonnas Getahun

Yonnas Getahun is a poet who builds bridges between Seattle’s art and tech hubs, hosting and entertaining creatives while immersing himself in Seattle’s rich literary, visual arts, and dance culture. Most recently he co-founded and launched Porchlit.orgSelfID.me, and #CapHillPSA; and curated Touch Me: I Am Violent and NW Film Forum’s videOasis. He recently released his first book of poetry collection, I Hung Myself on the Moon.

Johnny Horton

Johnny Horton is a poet and teacher who directs the University of Washington’s summer creative writing program in Rome. A recipient of a Washington Artist Trust GAP grant, Horton teaches at Seattle Central College and Hugo House. His poems have appeared in City Arts MagazinePoetry NorthwestHorsethiefLos Angeles ReviewWillow SpringsGolden Handcuffs ReviewCutBank, and Notre Dame Review.

Marie-Caroline Moir

Marie-Caroline Moir is a writer and and artist from Seattle, WA who teaches at Seattle Central College. A former style editor for City Arts Magazine, Marie-Caroline’s writing, styling, and artwork have been featured in publications such as the Golden Handcuffs ReviewSalmagundi, and Filter. She was also awarded the Seattle Post-Intelligencer’s inaugural Poetry Prize.
