John Economaki and Bridge City Tool Works

John Economaki & Bridge City Tool Works

"Handsomely arrayed under vitrines, BCTW's hand drills, chisels, plumb bobs and other devices resemble treasure displays."  -The Seattle Times

After acclaimed woodworker John Economaki developed a severe and sudden allergy to wood dust, he was prevented from continuing his life's work. Rather than renounce his craft entirely, he turned to making heirloom-quality hand tools for woodworkers, utilizing the same beauty and design that had distinguished his woodworking. This was the beginning of Bridge City Tool Works. The exhibition explores the integration of Economaki's work and life and his pursuit of innovation through his furniture, tools, sketches, prototypes, and videos. With Economaki, there is no separation between craft, design, and artall intersect and play crucial roles in his practice. Whether you wish to see him as an artist, a toolmaker, or a business owner, you are invited to experience Economaki's unique approach to making.
