The Art of Dinh Q. Lê

The Art of Dinh Q. Lê

Bellevue Arts Museum is proud to present the first major survey on the photographic and conceptual work of artist Dinh Q. Lê, who creates unique woven photographic works exploring personal and cultural identities in conflict. This hallmark exhibition of 15–20 woven photographic works and installation pieces, drawn from both public and private collections nationwide, spans 15 years of creative work. A full-color exhibition catalogue accompanies the exhibition.

About the Artist

Born in Vietnam, Dinh Q. Lê escaped to Los Angeles with his parents at age 11. As a student at the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1989, he began to create the woven photographic work for which he is now known. Lê utilizes a traditional Vietnamese weaving technique to create photographic images that are haunting, dually iconic and personal, and blur the lines between fact and fiction.
