Bellevue, WA—Bellevue Arts Museum (BAM) and IDSwest are collaborating to bring The New Frontier: Young Designer-Makers in the Pacific Northwest to Vancouver, BC in September. The exhibition spotlights the work of notable designers from British Columbia, Washington, and Oregon. Now on view at BAM through August 16, 2015, The New Frontier showcases the works of designers who are breaking barriers and challenging established practices. This cohort of regional makers, with its commitment to living and working in the Pacific Northwest, is part of a global phenomenon in which makers are establishing their own innovative models of creation, manufacturing, and distribution. Following the exhibition, BAM will re-install a selection of works from the exhibition at IDSwest. Designers represented in the BAM exhibition include Darin Montgomery of Standard Socket and urbancase; Aleph Geddis; Something Like This Design; Graypants Studio; Studio Gorm; and others, as well as Vancouver-based designers such as Lukas Peet and Omer Arbel.

Exclusively dedicated to art, craft, and design since 2005, Bellevue Arts Museum has grown to be an important contributor to the region's cultural vibrancy and a leading institution in its field. With exhibitions profiling pivotal figures and movements of modern design such as Raymond Loewy, Russel Wright, George Nelson, and Italian design of the 1960s–70s, BAM has forged a legacy of presenting relevant, informative design content to its constituencies, and is uniquely positioned as a premier destination for design discourse in the Northwest. On the tenth anniversary of its new mission, the Museum is thrilled to offer an on-the-ground look at the emerging design talent that is now shaping the region.

IDSwest is September 24–27 at the Vancouver Convention Centre West. Advance tickets and weekend passes are available now online at reduced rates, and full-price tickets will be available at the door during IDSwest. For more information please visit idswest.com
