Join artist Dwight Hwang as he introduces families to gyotaku printmaking, using traditional Japanese ink, paper, and, yes, real fish*! Participants of all ages will be guided through the history of Japanese fish prints and Hwang’s creation process, and will be able to take home their own self-made gyotaku work of art. All printing supplies are included with the registration fee.
This workshop has been developed alongside the Positive Fragmentations exhibition of print artists, emphasizing the variety and sophistication of printmaking as an artistic medium worldwide.
*Fish used for this workshop have been sustainably sourced through collaboration with California wildlife officials.

Partnered with institutions like NOAA and Patagonia, his work has been exhibited in museums such as the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles, displayed in hospitality such as the Four Seasons Resorts, and showcased in publications, including Forbes.
