Support the Bellevue Arts Museum

ADMINISTRATION

Become an ambassador for the Museum by helping with events and activities year-round!
Volunteer responsibilities include general office tasks as well as specific projects unique to each department, including Finance, Volunteer Management, Building Operations, etc. Assists appropriate department manager.

CURATORIAL

Paying special tribute to Northwest artists, BAM curators showcase the work of some of the most promising talents of this region. Volunteer tasks include scanning images, labeling slides and compiling information and documentation from past exhibits, as needed. Assists Curator and Registrar.

DEVELOPMENT

The Development Department plays a fundamental role in bringing unique and exceptional exhibitions, programs and community events to the Museum. Volunteers and unpaid interns will assist with fundraising activities related to individual and organizational donors. Projects may include research on donor prospects and funding opportunities, updating donor data, compiling and assembly of mailings, preparation for donor events, and administrative duties of filing and data entry. Volunteers and interns will learn about museum fundraising and gain exposure to donor database. Assists Director of Development & Development Officer.

DOCENT

A docent is a guide, teacher, art enthusiast, and a link between the public and the Museum. Docents prepare and present tours to school and community groups and answer questions for visitors in the galleries. The docent and teen docent training program is offered once a year and runs September through May. Learn more >

EDUCATION

Educational programs are key to fulfilling BAM's mission. Free art activities, lectures, workshops and artist demonstrations bring BAM programs to the community. Volunteers assist with set-up and clean-up of craft activities and have the opportunity to help participants with art projects. Assists Education Curator.

MARKETING

Our Marketing Department works hard to spread the word about BAM's innovative exhibitions and programs. Volunteer tasks include filing tear sheets and invoices of past and present shows and putting together marketing packets when the need arises. Assists Director of Marketing & PR.

MEMBERSHIP

Members help us to achieve and strengthen the Museum's exhibitions and the engaging education programs for the benefit of our community. Help make our vision a reality! Volunteers may help with reviewing and expanding member partner discount program, administrative tasks of filing, light data entry and some mailing. May also assist with membership events with pre-event preparation and greeting and checking in guests during events. Assists Membership and Annual Fund Manager.

SPECIAL EVENTS

BAM organizes special events year-round that highlight the work of regional artists and often coincide with new exhibitions. BAMignite, INDULGE: jewelry marketplace and Artful Evening, our annual fundraiser, are just a few of these unique events. Contribute to the continued success of the Pacific Northwest's center for the exploration of art, craft and design by greeting guests and assisting with gift bags, check-in, coat check, set-up and clean-up. BELLEVUE ARTS MUSEUM ARTSfair

One of the largest and most anticipated festivals of the year, the BAM ARTSfair features original artworks from over 300 leading independent artists and a multitude of free community programs. Volunteering in the BAM ARTSfair department takes on many forms throughout the year, including data entry, slide loading, jury process assistance, mailings and filing. Join over 200 volunteers to make this annual outdoor fine arts event a success. There is something for everyone and it's fun to be involved with the Museum's biggest fundraiser of the year! Assists Volunteer Manager, BAM ARTSfair Manager and BAM ARTSfair Artist Manager.

ARTFUL EVENING

Join us for a dazzling not-to-be-missed event benefiting Bellevue Arts Museum on July 21, 2012. This is your opportunity to get involved and make new friends in the art world while supporting the Museum's largest fundraising art auction of the year! Volunteers will assist in a variety of capacities and must be available 3 - 11pm on Saturday, July 21, 2012, with excellent customer service skills and the ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods. Art handling experience is a plus, as some light lifting may be requested, but it is not required. To apply, please complete the Volunteer Application & Background Check Form and mark Artful Evening under "Areas of Interest." Completed forms should be submitted by June 25, 2012.
