Share your passion for art - become a docent!
The docent training program features in-depth courses in the fine art of craft and design. Volunteer participants will explore a variety of ways to lead visitors - the general public, teen groups, and school groups - through the Museum's exhibitions.

Docent Benefits
  • An introduction or continuing education in art, craft and design
  • Exhibition walk-through with artists, curators, and scholars
  • Free access to lectures about the current exhibitions
  • Make connections with others who share an interest in art
What is a Docent?

A docent is a guide, teacher, art enthusiast, and a link between the public and the Museum. Docents prepare and present tours to groups from schools and the community, and answer questions for visitors in the galleries. The goal of the docent is to enrich the viewer's Museum experience, engage their interest and develop art appreciation in the audience.

How can I become a Docent?

To become a docent, a year of training is required in which art history, principles of art, and research and touring skills are taught. Docent training is offered once a year and runs from October thru May.

Bellevue Arts Museum is now accepting applications for the 2008 - 2009 docent training program. For details on how to become a Bellevue Arts Museum docent, please contact the museum via email to info@bellevuearts.org or call 425.519.0770.
Thank you for your interest.
