Gord Peteran is one of the most innovative craftsmen working in North America today with projects ranging from tables, cabinets and doors, to large-scale, public art. Based in Toronto, Peteran began his extensive career as a furniture maker, woodworker, and metalworker as a teenager employed in a furniture restoration shop.

By combining found objects with his skills in conceptual design and fine craftsmanship, Peteran creates unique works of art that he calls “furnitural,” his own fabricated word that signifies the sculptural aspect of his work. Bellevue Arts Museum presents a retrospective exhibition that spotlights this contemporary artist’s work spanning the past 25 years.

This exhibition is organized by the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Chipstone Foundation with generous support from The Windgate Charitable Foundation. It includes a national tour and is guest curated by Glenn Adamson, Head of Graduate Studies, Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and coordinated at the Museum by Sarah Fayen, assistant curator, Chipstone Foundation.
