This exhibition explores the works of the 44 international artists selected for Fiberart International 2004 which seeks to extend the meaning and values of textiles. With humor and satire, but also pathos and polemics, the artists strive to add another layer of meaning to the very definition of fiber art. The use of new technologies and the investigation of alternative media along with the use and reinvention of conventional or traditional textiles that are rooted in established social and cultural practices, both approaches are happily present in this exhibition making space for expressions of human experiences.
