TEEN ARTS COUNCIL
The Teen Arts Council is designed as a premier resource of art, craft and design for teens and students in the Bellevue area eager to develop a deeper connection with art. Teen programs are intended to inspire thoughtful and provoking conversations for teens ages 14 - 18, where they can explore a variety of mediums of art, develop their creative potential and ignite a long-lasting passion for the visual and performing arts.
The purpose of the Teen Arts Council is to design and create, with the aide of BAM staff, events and programming specific for teens and teen interests with links to the mission of the museum and the council. The Teen Arts Council allows teens to participate in designing, shaping and running teen programs at BAM, and generate interpretive, creative and educational programs of high interest to peers. Students ages 14 to 18 Ė Are you passionate about art and interested in working in a museum setting? Bellevue Arts Museum offers a teen docent program and we are looking for teens who would like to learn about art, presentation techniques and can make a six-month commitment. Once trained about our exhibitions, the teen docents will conduct tours and gain a sense of pride and confidence to help them succeed in any environment. This volunteer position also counts toward high school community service hours.
Training for the 2013-14 class of BAM Teen Docents has begun. The Teen Docent Information Session and application process for the 2014-15 class will be held in September 2014.
