Bellevue Arts Museum has great opportunities for educators and school groups. We invite you and your class to pay us a visit. Our exhibitions change often and explore the world of art, craft and design through major media such as fiber, clay, wood, glass and metal. A tour of Bellevue Arts Museum's galleries serves as a great extension of your classroom work and provides wonderful opportunities to develop projects and assignments that relate the works on display to your curriculum.
Attention, teachers! BAM offers school tours specifically shaped to your students' age group and interests. Tour spots fill up fast. Book now to get the best selection of times and dates.
Please schedule your school tour at least two weeks in advance using the tour request form here >
SCHOOL TOUR DAYS/TIMES
School tours are generally offered Tuesday through Friday between 11am and 3pm. However, scheduled groups can arrange a private visit to the Museum at no extra charge between 10 and 11am if necessary. School tours are not scheduled on Free First Fridays.
CHAPERONES FOR YOUTH & STUDENT TOURS
For children ages 4 and under, a ratio of one adult (age 18 years or older) for every 5 children is required. For children ages 5 and up, a ratio of one adult (age 18 years or older) for every 7 children is required. For safety reasons, if your group does not meet the required ratio on the day of your visit, your group cannot be admitted into the Museum. For the best possible visit, we recommend splitting your larger group of children into smaller groups and assigning each group to a specific chaperone. That way, chaperones know which children they are responsible for while visiting the Museum and who they must enforce the safety guidelines outlined during your orientation upon. A chaperone may not leave his/her children alone in the Museum.
A typical tour takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes. An art project that correlates with the exhibit can be provided upon request at and additional $2 per child.
After your school tour is scheduled, a docent will contact you to confirm the arrangements and review any special requirements.
Our World Language docents are available to give tours in French, German, Hindi, Italian, Mandarin and Swedish.
Upon request, educators who schedule a tour will be given access to our online image gallery to be used in class for tour preparation and follow up. Museum staff will also email some pre-visit reminders regarding museum policies and conduct.
GROUP FEES (GROUP RATES FOR 10+ PEOPLE)
Students/seniors: $5 per person
Adults: $8 per person
Art Project (optional): $2 per student materials fee
1 free chaperone is admitted for every 10 students (20 students = 2 free chaperones, etc.). Additional chaperones are welcome at the adult group rate ($8). All student groups receive 1 free chaperone regardless of size. Please inquire about our sponsored admission for free or reduced lunch recipients.
We accept cash, checks (payable to Bellevue Arts Museum) and the following credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover.
TRANSPORTATION/STUDENT DROP-OFF AREAS
If you are traveling by bus, you will need to arrange for parking. Contact the Education Curator at 425.519.0793 to make arrangements. If the cost of school busses is a deterrent, please inquire with the Museum for possible reimbursement. If you carpool, we offer free parking in our garage. Bus parking is available with advance notice. Plan your trip to BAM >
Our museum is wheelchair accessible. Special needs groups should bring the appropriate number of assistants to ensure a quality experience (assistants are admitted free of charge).
Tours should generally conclude with enough time to return to school for lunch. No food or beverage is allowed in the upstairs galleries. If students plan to bring sack lunches, accommodations may be made in the museum. Also, Bellevue Downtown Park and Bellevue Square are within walking distance of the museum.
