TAS@BAM is a free drop-in arts class that offers a casual and supportive environment where participants enjoy access to BAM's current exhibitions. Each month a Resident Teaching Artist will focus on different skills and themes to teach in connection with a current BAM exhibition. Teen Art Studios are set up to have new students every workshop so don't be afraid to stop by anytime! TAS@BAM is free and open to all students ages 13-18, and includes art materials.

Contemporary Fiber Arts with Wyly Astley
Fridays, May 13, 20, & 27, 4 – 7pm
Working with handcraft processes like sewing, weaving, and crochet, join fabrics in a completely fresh way. Explore the Atoms + Bytes exhibit at BAM and discover how other contemporary artists are combining traditional materials and processes with technology to create fascinating contemporary objects.

Printmaking and Textile Design with Carol Rashawnna Williams
Fridays, June 3, 10, 17, & 24, 4 – 7pm

Paint and draw your way into the expansive world of printmaking. Learn mono and block printing skills with brayers, acrylic, and linoleum. Create exciting prints on paper and fabric using textile design as your inspiration from the exhibition Inspiring Beauty.

Fashion Illustration Foundations with Arica Schuett
Fridays, July 8, 15, 22, & 29, 4 – 7pm

Fashion designers draw inspiration from everywhere, including the use of fashion illustration to help them turn their ideas into clothing. This workshop will introduce students to fashion illustration including how to create patterns, choose colors and create illustrations that convey their ideas clearly. Accompanying this workshop will be an exhibit on modern fashion where students can see even more of the process unfold.

Cut Paper Compositions with Lauren Iida
Fridays, August 5, 12, 19, & 26, 4 – 7pm

Learn the art of cut paper, and create original "paper cutaway" composition of a subject of your own choosing. This relaxing and fun process yields striking work in its beautifully rendered details and unique aesthetic.
